Adopting a Rabbit
If you've never shared your home with a rabbit we recommend doing some reading before making the commitment to adopt. Rabbits are wonderful, personable companions, however, they are not low maintenance. Our Bunny Basics booklet will give you an overview of rabbit diet, housing, and care.
Below are just a few of the wonderful rabbits waiting for a loving and caring forever-home. Please visit petfinder.com to see our entire list of adoptable rabbits. If you are a rabbit expert and would like to share your home with a special-needs rabbit or two, we have several wonderful candidates!
Please contact our Adoption Coordinator at adoptions@rabbitsanctuary.org for further information.
If you are interested in adopting a rabbit, we encourage you to fill out our Rabbit Adoption Application, download the PDF form or fill out the application online.

Timmy and Mouse Timmy was born at the sanctuary on August 2, 2007. His mother, Blossom, is a Dutch dwarf, and his father, Grundo, is a mini-lop who has been adopted already. Timmy acts like a typical male youngster, with boundless energy and playful antics. He loves to carry around toilet paper roll ends in his mouth like a dog. He hated getting put back in his pen once his exercise time had expired, that is, until recently when his new partner, Mouse, was introduced to him. Mouse came to the sanctuary with her mom and siblings in May of 2007 when she was only ten weeks old. She is a purebred gray/blue mini-Rex and is microchipped. Mouse was the friskiest of the bunch and had to be removed from her brothers and sisters due to her aggression toward them. Being in her own pen made her miss the company of other bunnies, however, so she escaped one night while Timmy was out running and has had a mad crush on him ever since. We couldn't deny her cute little self his company, so we put them in a pen together. She groomed him within five minutes of being together. They make a very sweet couple! |

Helga and Mimo Helga and Mimo are both rescued Reno rabbits. They were brought into the hospital for identical cheek abscesses and have been treated and fully healed. They are both female. Helga is a beautiful caramel color with browns and tans mixed in her fur. She loves to explore, but she is extremely shy and needs more socialization with people. Mimo is black and she more than makes up for Helga's shyness. Mimo is outgoing and curious and enjoys being petted. These two do not have to be adopted together as long as either of them is adopted out with another bunny, as they are used to and enjoy the company of another bunny, but aren't necessarily bonded to one another. |
Below are some incredible rabbits with special needs. They are available for adoption, but their needs require extra-special adoptors. If you are interested in adopting one of these rabbits please contact our adoption coordinator.
Don't feel you have the resources to care for one of these darlings? You can still help by becoming a sponsor. Your donation will help fund their care while they live at the sanctuary. GLRS is a no-kill facility, so if these rabbits are not adopted they will live their lives out peacefully at the sanctuary. Sponsors help offset the costs of caring for these incredible rabbits.

Jethro and Violet Jethro and Violet are two bunnies from Reno, Nevada. They both received an injury to their eye and had to have surgery. Unfortunately, the vet was unable to save the eyes. But these two are amazing - they sit side by side, with their good eyes facing out to help each other see. It is amazing how well they help each other adapt. They are a bit shy, which is to be expected, and will need an understanding owner who will change their environment as little as possible and provide a quiet, calm area for them.
